Frankincense is an aromatic resin originally obtained from trees of the Arabic Boswellia Sacra, which are harvested in the Nejd region of the Sultanate of Oman. Frankincense has been traded on the Arabian Peninsula for more than 6,000 years and praised for centuries because of its heavenly aroma, medicinal and spiritual properties.

There are mainly 3 different types of Frankincense oil: Frankincense Carterii is the most widely used therapeutically; Frankincense Serrata is a little less costly and is used traditionally in India, and Frankincense Sacra (holy Frankincense) is said to be the finest of all Frankincense oils.
